GREYHOUNDS GET STARTED FOR 2009
|

Staff Writer 12/27/08
Saturday Dec. 27th the Greyhounds hosted it's first talent
evaluation camp at Sterling Field under an over cast sky
and light misting rain. With temperatures expected in the
high 60's Coach Beeks was expecting a huge turnout
earlier in the week and as rain fell throughout Friday night
Coach Beeks' expectations began to turn into dismay. As
the 1pm start time grew closer it seems that the weather
would dampen the turnout for the Greyhounds first meeting.
Surprisingly the Greyhounds players showed up enthused
and antsy to get going. In all a total of 36 players showed
to participate in the workout. Coach Beeks was happy with
the commitment that the players have shown so early in the
program, he said he was more impressed with the return of
the 22 veterans and their motivation. This is a great start to
putting together a 45 man roster and we are just coming out
of the chute. I saw some great speed and some good quick footwork as we completed the testing evaluation. I was a
little disappointed that we didn't have any quarterbacks step out of the crowd during one-anyone drills, but as I
reviewed the tape of the practice I could see some potential QB's out of the new group. Overall a very positive start
to what should be a great season for the Greyhounds. We mean business and -- "Nothing less than a Championship
Will Do!"
