Greyhounds In the News '05
|
Opening day around the SEAFL has been greatly anticipated amongst semi pro football teams in the Upstate area
and included in that group were the players of the Greenville Greyhounds football players. Throughout the night
the players were texting and talking up the game the next day with the CSRA Cobras and finally the day had
arrived. The team meeting place was at the same place for road games at the Haywood Road Mall. A small huddle
was called and at the despair or the players they were informed that they would not be playing the regular
scheduled game and that at this time will be rescheduled for later in the season. The original information led the
Greyhounds to the conclusion that there were a possibility that they could be awarded a win but not to give the
players any false hope Coach Beeks decided that he would keep that information to himself until he got official
notice from the league.
Today the Greyhounds received notice that they were granted a win by forfeit as of a league judgement and ruling.
At last notification Coach Beeks received a call from Coach Bullock of the Augusta Cobras, informing him of the
problem of the Cobras difficulty in obtaining their field for that days game. The league had not yet had time to
investigate the situation and upon the conclusion of the inquiry the Greyhounds were officially granted a win. This
judgement started the Greyhounds off to the first 1-0 season since the first year of it's conception a position in
which the Greyhounds earned a position in the playoff and made it to the second round. The Greyhounds are off
to a running start lets see if this momentum will carry them the rest of the way through the season.
