GREYHOUNDS PUT ON SHORT LEASH
|
The Greyhounds have been preparing for the 2009 football season and finally got to show fans how far they had
come. The visiting Columbia Warriors arrived at East Riverside Park to take on the Greenville Greyhounds in a
pre-season game. Right out the gate the Greyhounds came out and moved the ball right down the field in four
consecutive plays
and established a strong game plan. The Warriors was not to be out done and they came back an put in some
great plays of their own. A back and forth game that was exciting and gave the Greyhounds a glimpse at how well
they could play. As good as the plays turned out what killed us in the end was the same thing that has plagued us
every year - turnovers. It's simple we have not dominated a game in two years and we must protect the ball when
we have it. We have not been stopped on a drive by our opponent, we have in fact stopped ourselves with a
penalty or a turnover. Our execution of plays were working fine and I saw that this game plan can work and we can
establish a strong run game with the multiple backs that we have. It's the passing game that we have to work on
because interceptions just let the air out of us. Chevious Kelly (QB) has to know that the momentum of this team
rides squarely on his shoulders and controls the destiny of this season. Check out more from the game from the
Warriors and Greyhounds and leave us your opinion
