Greyhounds Begin Search For A New Field
Owner James Beeks has initiated a search to find a new location to host home
games for the Greenville Greyhounds 2007 season. Beeks said that after
Mrs. Hill caused such a controversy with her arrogant attitude and lack of
understanding of how to deal with minor league football and what it took to get
Southside High School to even consider allowing minor league football to take
place there, no one will be permitted to call this field home anymore.  As of
now we are out talking with several field operators about using their location
as the new home field of the Greenville Greyhounds. We have surveyed a
new territory in Greenville County and several letters of interest have been
sent out. A confirmation on a specific location is expected to be finalized by
mid-December.

Beeks admits that he made a mistake by being too open to helping others as
he did by agreeing to allowing the Danes to play at the same field as the
Greyhounds after the Danes were unsuccessful at finding a field on their own.
I agreed that there would not be a conflict of interest as long as we could work
a schedule out where the Danes were playing opposite of the Greyhounds.
The fact that I had respect for Coach Green and that I realize that this sport is
about giving these guys another chance to play football were contributing
facts to my decision. Although Mrs. Hill and I had our differences, my concerns
were more for the players who deserved this opportunity to play whether it
was for the Danes or any of the other teams. Beeks said that was my mistake
and that decision came back to bite me in the end. Now that the season
ended the way that it did it's every man for himself, and it is going to be dog
eat dog. Every team in the Upstate will be starting on level ground for 2007
and we will see just how much each owner really knows. Each accomplishment
will truly be on his own merit. The Greyhounds are on the verge of
announcing the new location of their new home field for the 2007 season.
Where does that put the Greyhounds and what does that say about the
Greyhounds organization?
