2ND SEASON
March 15, 2012

The Greenville Greyhounds
have begun it's football season campaign
by announcing that the team
will be returning to the GDFL
(864)901-9599
OFFICE
The Greenville Greyhounds mission is to provide athletes in the community an opportunity to promote and develop football talents and leadership skills of each individual participant that is accepted by the
governing body of the Greenville Greyhounds.
The Greyhounds organization seeks to establish itself and the players as role models and upstanding citizens to the youth of the Upstate of South
Carolina. It is our intention as leaders of the communities we each represent, to deter todays youth from the usage of drugs, gang membership, and
other criminal engagements; instead we will use our influence to refer them to the importance of education, sports participation, community pride, and
self preservation. As the Greyhounds organization grows in popularity and recognition within the community, we will use our influence to instill respect,
honor, sportsmanship, a stride for a healthy body and mind in each child we encounter. Realizing that semi-pro football offers each player an
opportunity to live out their dreams they also preserve the footsteps for future players to come.

Still No Luck For the Greyhounds
Now with four  weeks remaining the Greyhounds are still without a field. The last gasp at hosting the
Greyhounds home field at one of the local high school has come up empty. Owner James Beeks has issued
a statement saying that his attempt at reaching a deal with Southside High School has come to an end. He
said for several days he have been contacting officials about using the stadium and had gotten positive feed
back and the idea seemed to be moving in the right direction, and then all of a sudden it seemed like I was
having to jump through hoops. Finally it was said that Greenville County School District will only allow
non-profits to rent the property, and that it was only available for one day. Beeks said although his organization
is non-profit registered with the state, he had gotten the point and was continuing with the search for a field.
Beeks said that he doesn't understand why school officials are so reluctant to work with outside sources that
will bring in some form of financial support when all we are hearing about is budget cuts, school teachers
being laid off, not enough money for school functions, and school buses. Beeks said if he was ready to
donate 10,000 dollars all these schools would be lined up with a great big thank you, but yet and still they are
not willing to work with organizations to help raise money.

Owner Calls An Audible
What a bold move by Owner James Beeks in the waning weeks until the 2012 season kickoff Beeks goes
long and just may have scored big for his organization. With three weeks until the first home game of the
season for the Greenville Greyhounds the team finally got on the move, literally, Owner Beeks had scheduled
a meeting with Liberty Recreation Department Head Tony Boiter and it turned out to be the right call. Owner
James Beeks and Athletic Director Tony Boiter met at the Liberty Recreation office on Wednesday and talked
for about an hour and a half before the two had all the information from each other they needed. After the
meeting the two went over to look at the stadium the Liberty was offering and Beeks was amazed at the idea
that Liberty had such a gem to be made available to the Greyhounds. Mr. Boiter, whom said he was looking
forward to hosting these games, also offered information pertaining to some upcoming events in the area that
the Greyhounds can use to promote the team to the area. Beeks said that this promotion is going to be called
the Greyhounds Liberty Blitz!!!!  Beeks has been asked to make a formal appeal to the Liberty City Council on
Monday night. Beeks said this is just what he needed to keep the Greyhounds in the game. He went on to say
there are big things on the horizon for the Greyhounds in the real near future.
Greyhounds Player Hospitalised
10 May 12
Greyhounds player #77 "BIG" Keith Mahaffey is in the hospital at Greenville
Memorial. He had bypass surgery over a week ago and has been having
some complication with hydration. Coach Beeks and Keith have spoken
on the phone several times since Keith has been hospitalized and said he
plans to do a recorded interview with Keith. Keith had been losing weight
and reaching his goal and looking good. He assured Beeks he was
planning a comeback this year with the Greyhounds after playing in the
spring league with the Spartanburg Redskins. Beeks said that Keith was
in good spirits and they talked about the progress of the team and how he
was doing with his health. Keep Keith in your prayers and his family as
well.
With the season kickoff just one month away
the team officials have yet to sign a deal with
any school. The discourse of Beeks' feeling
