The Greyhounds took on the Atlanta Cardinals Saturday night at Carolina High School, the
Greyhounds first home game in their new stadium. The Greyhounds started a new tradition of
entrance to the field that they established at their first game that the other team recognized
and talked about. The Entrance was a sign of togetherness and organization and the
Greyhounds was set out to prove just that. As the game got started the Cardinals had other
plans as they came out on opening kickoff and caused a fumble and went straight to the air
and completed a 48 yard pass down to the Greyhounds 2 yard line and set up a touchdown in
the opening minutes of the game. The extra point was no good giving the Cardinals a early 6
to 0 lead over the Greyhounds. After a blocked punt in the end zone and a recovery by #88
Jovan Aiken the Greyhounds tied the score at 6 to 6 and added an extra point by Thomas
Hurley to go up 7-6. Not to be out done the Cardinals came right back with the air attack to go

The Greenville Greyhounds mission is to provide athletes in the community an opportunity to promote and develop football talents and leadership skills of each individual participant that is accepted by the governing body of the Greenville Greyhounds.
|
The Greyhounds organization seeks to establish itself and the players as role models and upstanding citizens to the youth of the Upstate of South Carolina. It is our intention as leaders of the communities we each represent, to deter todays youth from the usage of drugs, gang membership, and other criminal engagements; instead we will use our influence to refer them to the importance of education, sports participation, community pride, and self preservation. As the Greyhounds organization grows in popularity and recognition within the community, we will use our influence to instill respect, honor, sportsmanship, a stride for a healthy body and mind in each child we encounter. Realizing that semi-pro football offers each player an opportunity to live out their dreams they also preserve the footsteps for future players to come.

The Greyhounds (1-1 ) visited the Atlanta, Georgia region again This week; this time taking a
northern route to visit the Georgia Buccaneers (1-1) in Alpharetta, Georgia. The Greyhounds
coming off a come from behind win against the Atlanta Cardinals were upbeat and excited
about the possibilities of how good they could become, went into Buccaneers territory only to
be forced to walk the plank of despair. The Buccaneers handed the Greyhounds a 38 to 0
loss; dropping the Greyhounds record to 1-2 on the season. Coach Beeks said, " Pre-game
warm ups did not give him the confidence that the teams focus was fully there as it had been in
the previous game. The guys were in a joking state of mind and did not seem to take this game
serious." We were not where we should have been mentally and when Coach G and I reviewed
the film at 4am in the morning it didn't get any better than what we had seen on the field, in
fact, we could clearly see that we were beat from the outset. Coach Beeks addressed the team
afterwards and told his players that the Buccaneers are not 38 points better than the
Greyhounds and he was not mad but more disappointed that was the effort that they had left
on the field. Coach G and I tried to stress to the guys how important a win could have been to
the Greyhounds separating the conference from sole 2nd place standing. We took a huge step
backward today and can not afford to be in this situation. The Greyhounds had few highlights
to speak of according to Beeks. If I had to make a report of what I had stand out in my mind I
would have to say that Rodriguez Rodgers had two good catches for offense and Adam "The
Hammer" Roth lowered the Boom with another BIG HIT on Defense.

back up 14 to 7 and test the Greyhounds fortitude. The Greyhounds have not been known for fighting back once they are
down but this is a different team with a different attitude and as the game went on it would be a test to see if the Greyhounds
had and chase in them after falling behind and giving up another touchdown. Darvis Dorrah #2 was not giving up in the face
of adversity, he shot out of the gate on a toss sweep and ran 17 yards untouched into the endzone bringing the team back
within 1. With plenty of time left on the clock Coach Beeks made a risky call to go for 2 a packaged special he added to the

offense. Double tight formation worked to perfection with QB-Taylor Sprouse #15 throwing up to #1 Chris Teasley for the leaping catch that put the Greyhounds up by 1 point; the score was now 15 to 14. The Cardinals put the pressure right back on the Greyhounds with a long pass for another touchdown to put them back in the lead 20 to 15 with time running out in the 3rd quarter. A timely change in QB's brought on #4 CJ Harrison and he came in with a spark dropping back and then taking off up field for a 33yds and putting the Greyhounds in scoring position on the 5 yard line. #33 Adam "The Hammer" Roth came in with the go ahead Touchdown run off the left side behind Raymonte "Too Tall" Richardson and Kiemo "Big Boy" Taylor. The rest of the game was showoff the DEFENSE who put on stellar performance at the end with an array of hard hits, pass breakups, sacks, and pressure defense that made Coach Beeks and Coach G proud.

Come out and support the Greyhounds at their next home game! A
benefit affair for the Shriners Hospital for Children. The Greyhounds
are setting out to set a new record for Semi-pro football, an
attendance record and a $10,000 donation. We are driving at bringing
attention to the benefits of having a regional hospital that serves
children up to 18 years of age for orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal
cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate care at no cost to the patients
regardless of family financial need.
Owner James Beeks when asked what sparked him to do a fundraiser
for the Shriner's Hospital, He first eluded to importance of what having
such a special hospital means to the children that have benefited or
will benefit from the services offered at the hospital. Beeks then
remembered just last year when the story broke that the Shriner's
Hospital in Greenville was on a list to shut down and the community
support that followed to keep the doors opened. Finally Beeks said
that the most touching and inspirational act put on by the local
Shriner's Hospital was about a little girl that lost her legs in an attack
that caught her outside playing in a war zone. Beeks said that the
story was so close to him because in memory he could remember
being over seas in the war that is continuing and imaging the scene as
this event happened to this little girl. I was in Iraq during Operation
Dessert Storm and hearing the bombs explode in the distance and
being right behind the lines and the sound of U.S. Armored tanks firing

missiles. Thinking of the situation this little girl had to endure, If not for the Shriner's hospital who would have giving this little
girl the joy of and experience of walking again. As the news covered this heart warming story Beeks said he could not help but
feel overwhelmed to try and help, as this season benefit games were being organized Beeks said that the opportunity to give
back to this great cause was at the top of the list. We have a great chance to set some new records for minor league football
in the Upstate area with fan attendance and a monetary donation amount. Come out and enjoy an evening out with the
Greenville Greyhounds and help raise money for the Shriner's Hospital for Children Saturday July 17 at 7pm.
I have been there in your boots and I PRAY for your safe return. Coach Beeks

The Greyhounds are nearing the turn and headed down the back stretch of the 2010 season. Laggining behind but not out
of the race, the Greyhounds have set themselves up in perfect position to come on strong down the stretch to the finish line
where they hope to be in first place and move on to play for the USFL Championship and a opportunity to play for the BCS
Bowl Championship. This weekend the Greyhounds(1-3) take the first step towards that finish by traveling to Atlanta to take
on the Atlanta Cardinals (0-4). These two teams played a close game at Carolina High Stadium on the 12th of June and the
Greyhounds speed off to a 21-20 win. Now the two teams will clash again and alot is at stake just as it was in their first

|
|
|
|
WIRE REPORT 07/10/10
|
|
|
|
The USFL gave this game the title of "GAME of the WEEK" and the play on the field did not disappoint the fans. The hype was a highly competitive game back and forth and once again came down to final seconds of the game. This time the Greyhounds was the ones behind trying to score at the final tick of the game clock. Down 16 to 12 the Greyhounds had the ball with 38 seconds and 3 downs to score. The ball was on the Cardinals 7 yard lime and the Greyhounds threw into the endzone and nearly picked off, next play a swing pass that yeilds nothing and with 3.8 seconds left the Greyhounds emptied the backfield and the QB drops back with protection and runs a draw as time ticked off the clock the QB is tackled just short of the goalline, sealing the fate of the Greyhounds 3rd straight loss. More to come on this story.........
